Amid wired fencing and patrolling by BSF jawans, smuggling attempt from the Bangladesh side into Bharat never stops. In a fresh case, which has been reported from the Coochbehar district of West Bengal, alert BSF jawans foiled a cow smuggling attempt and shot dead a Bangladeshi smuggler.
As per the report, in the morning of the 26th of June, on-duty BSF jawans on Chamta borders under the Sitai Police station of the Coochbehar district noticed that around five smugglers entered Bharatiya territory. BSF jawans gave them a warning and told them to surrender. But, the smugglers allegedly attacked BSF jawans with country-made weapons. In retaliation, BSF jawans fired several rounds towards the Bangladeshi smugglers.
Later, BSF jawans could not find any dead bodies.
Local sources said that despite having the wired fencing along the international borders, Bangladeshi smugglers cut the wired fence and entered into Bharat.
As per the Bangladeshi media report, after BSF's firing, a smuggler died. Others took the body with them before BSF jawans could reach. The smuggler has been identified as Nurul Islam(60). Nurul Islam was a resident of Lohakuchi village under the Kaliganj Upazila of the Lalmonirhat district of Bangladesh. He was a known cow trader in the area.
